How To Setup and Use Waiting Rooms for Office Hours & Drop-Ins

Waiting Rooms is a Zoom Meeting feature that can be used to admit attendees into a pre-meeting room (separate from the main session) which can be used for a lot of different case scenarios. In this video, we will be using the Waiting Room feature for Office Hours 1:1 meetings & Drop-In meetings. For this setup, you can do so by the following:

▪️ Step 1: Open the Zoom Desktop Client and click on the calendar icon 🗓 'Schedule’ (0:40) and type a random Topic of your choice and configure the settings of your Zoom meeting to your needs. There are no specifics for this setup, just ensure 'Waiting Room' is enabled (1:02) and click 'Schedule'.

▪️ Step 2: Once done this will open up your Google Calendar if configured, Also, you can find this meeting under the 'Meetings' tab in your Zoom Desktop Client.

▪️ Step 3: Start the meeting, and once participants join your meeting if invited, or joining via your meeting join link or Meeting ID, you will be prompt that you have guests waiting to be admitted in (2:24). You can click on 'Participants' and you will see a list of participants waiting to be admitted in (2:32). By clicking (in-blue) on 'Admit', this will pull the participant into the meeting (2:48).

▪️ Step 4: Participants can either 'Leave Meeting' or you can kick participants out of the meeting from the 'Participants' window by hovering your mouse over the participant you want to kick out of the meeting and clicking 'More' (in blue) and click on 'Remove' (3:28).
